In Swahili, “Kianga” means “ray of sunshine”—a name that reflects the light, warmth, and vitality we strive to bring into the lives of the families who welcome our dogs. At Kianga, we are a small, home-based breeding program with a deep love and respect for the majestic Rhodesian Ridgeback. Our mission is simple yet profound: to honor the legacy of this noble breed while nurturing puppies who embody physical health, emotional balance, and spirited joy.
Our Breeding Program
We are a small family oriented breeding program located in beautiful Santa Cruz, CA.
Each pairing is chosen with care, rooted in a thoughtful commitment to genetic integrity and temperament. We work to ensure that every puppy born into our program is genetically robust, temperamentally sound, and well-prepared for the world, having been lovingly raised in our home and gently introduced to a wide range of sensory experiences from their earliest days.
While we hold space for the possibility of future champions, our heart’s true calling is to raise devoted companions—dogs who will bring light and love into your life, share your adventures, and rest at your feet with loyalty and grace.
